Executive Director

The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is seeking an outstanding individual with strong leadership and management skills to drive forward the strategic, artistic and operational development of the organisation. This will include directing the organisation through a time of change as it undertakes an exciting capital (build or relocation) project to ensure long term sustainability.

You will be passionate and knowledgeable about contemporary crafts, with entrepreneurial flair and an eye for new opportunities. With experience of working with a range of stakeholders and developing successful partnerships, you will be able to lead on the business planning process, combining the development of a high quality artistic and educational programme with appropriate fundraising and income generating strategies. The ability to lead a small but diverse team and monitor business performance is key to the role, as is an understanding of audience development in the arts.

Deadline for applications is 12 noon Friday 30 June and interviews will take place on Monday 10 July. We anticipate being able to inform you if you have been selected for interview on or by Tuesday 4 July.

Seeking new Board Members

The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is seeking Trustees to complement the skills of our existing and highly valued Board Members.
You would need to be able to make a commitment to the Guild and have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind.  Our priority area for recruitment is for a Trustee with an accounting background, to contribute to our Finance Working Group.  However we are also interested to talk to you if you have experience in planning law or capital development, retail development / online selling, or fundraising.


We are able to pay travel expenses and Trustees will be expected to contribute on average one day per month to include Board meetings, an Annual General Meeting, the annual Board and staff planning day and attendance at exhibitions and events.
