An emerging jewellery designer/maker in the early stages of defining and establishing her practice.
She is fascinated by the meanings that jewellery objects can take on for us – becoming symbols of people, places and memories and what we seek to project to the world. Her creative work seeks to explore narrative and memories (not always my own) and to comment on the human experience. Recent work explores her own memories of a life event through material, line, form and contrasts such as light/dark and strength/delicacy. She aims to create jewellery objects that the wearer will find their own story in.
Carol uses precious metals in her work and enjoy combining them with materials that have specific memories and meanings for me, including concrete, wood and leather. The process of creative experimentation has become fundamental to how I interpret and manifest my personal narrative in my work. Her work uses traditional jewellery techniques such as fabrication, forging and stone setting as well as more experimental techniques and those relevant to working with specific materials.
