Description: |
Blandine makes "one-off" sculptural forms which are hand-built in stoneware or porcelain clay, the colours applied with high-temperature glazes, porcelain slips, on-glaze colours and metallic lustres. Most of her pieces are on animal themes, usually hares, fish, reptiles, amphibians and cetaceans. Some reveal her interest in English tales and fables, and often there is a hint of humour and expectation.
The In Tandem exhibition which features at the Devon Guild from 26 September to 8 November 2009 is an intriguing dialogue between furniture and ceramics which challenges traditional ideas of ceramics, sculpture, furniture design and construction. The exhibition is a collaboration between Guild members Blandine Anderson and Terry Sawle. |
