Short Description:
Furniture designer and maker. Some hint at complex structures which lie beneath the surface, others suggest the prior removal of that surface.
Description:
Now a self -employed furniture designer and maker, I was fortunate to train and work under Adrian Smith. This provided me with the best schooling in line and proportion and a detailed knowledge of construction techniques. Having worked in Mayfair and at Buckingham Palace with the finest examples of antique furniture in the country, it is to those high standards that I aspire in my own work. I only use native British hardwoods, worked mostly with hand tools. Machinery plays its part where appropriate but never compromises the design. My furniture does not hide its debt to the skills and traditions of the past. It is created to enhance a contemporary living space just as much as it is to sit comfortably alongside its antique predecessors.
