Since graduating from University College Falmouth in 2007 Naomi Singer has exhibited her glass pieces in galleries and shows throughout Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. During her time at University Naomi specialised in warm glass techniques and since graduating she has continued to work in this material. The sea, coastline and plants around her home in Cornwall, and her parent’s house in Dorset heavily influence Naomi’s work. Many of the images used in her pieces are off plants specially grown for her work. Naomi uses a mixture of modern and traditional techniques to create her final pieces. She uses digital macro photography to create the images and after manipulation the images are converted into digital water-slide decals. She then uses traditional fusing and slumping techniques to fish the pieces.
Naomi’s work can be seen in several galleries throughout the southwest. She also regularly exhibits in a studio collective in Bridport, Dorset that she helps to run, and Naomi run glass fusing course from this studio as well. Naomi is now a Full Member of the Devon Guild. |
