Carol works in the landscape, both rural and urban, and produces archival quality, signed, limited edition photographs in her studio. She has exhibited widely and is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society. Her books Dartmoor Dreams and Stone Universe (published by Halsgrove) with poetry by John Powls celebrate the landscape of Dartmoor. She sees her work as meditations on the landscape and often uses colour as an element of expression in its own right to emphasise the character of the image. Carol works with a digital camera and feels that her background in conventional photography has enabled her to make the most of digital technology by translating the skills of darkroom technique to the new medium. In 2003 she took part in Landscapes, a series of programmes looking at art and landscape, produced by John Loveless for Carlton Television. Her most recent project Ashide-a Second Nature explores Japanese-style gardens in the UK. Listed in the Times Newspaper as one of the top five exhibitions of the week this exhibition with haiku poetry by John Powls, was shown at the Embassy of Japan in London in 2006.
