Mei Lim received a BA (Hons) in English from University of Malaya. A further BA (Hons) for graphic and publishing design/illustration came from Northumbria University, where, apart from learning about book design and illustration, she spent most of the course in the photographic darkroom, experimenting with all forms of photographic techniques. She continues to innovate. She participates in many exhibitions and community based activities like the ongoing T.R.A.I.L. Project which emphasises the use of recycled material in art. Mei won the Burton Sweet Award for the best overall piece of work submitted to the Black Swan Arts, Somerset 2006 Open Exhibition /Competition. She also won the SW Academy of Fine and Applied Arts 2007 Open Exhibition Photography Award. Her graphic design and painting – she is also a painter– informs and influences her photography, giving her work a distinct look. Mainly a landscape photographer, she recognises the importance of reportage and documentary work. Mei has also designed innumerable art and craft books for many London based publishing houses including The National Gallery. Commission enquiries through the Devon Guild are welcome. |
