At the tender age of six years old Russell had a huge passion for nature and landscapes, spending much of his time exploring and studying nature, insects, woodlands and of course Dartmoor, one of his favourite places. At eight years old he would regularly send letters off to Kenyan wildlife parks, asking if they had any vacancies working as a Game Warden. Russell has over twenty five years experience in general photography and now works as a professional fine art landscape and nature photographer, stepping up from 35mm DSLR and film work into the world of medium format photography. He now uses a Mamiya 645 camera with either a film back or Phase One system to capture landscapes and nature with his own very unique style. His absolute love for landscapes, nature and light as well as his dedication, commitment and perfection ensures an atmospheric and vibrant feel to his work. He is also specializing more and more in fine art black & white photographic work.
All photographs are either scanned from film or digitally developed and colour managed / printed by Russell, Using Ultra Chrome K3 inks ensures longevity and beautiful soft tones. To enhance the process Russell also uses Ilford Professional pigment inkjet paper;, which gives a professional finished photograph.
Russell has worked in the world of boat building, forestry, Land Surveying and also spent many years working in the Middle East as a Chartered Building Surveyor and has travelled all over the world. Although his previous professions were not directly related to photography, it gives a sense of his exploring character, love of nature / landscapes and spirit of adventure. Russell takes bespoke photography workshops. |
