Sam uses hand dyeing, stitch, painting and print making techniques to explore qualities of surface texture, colour and pattern on paper, cloth and most recently metal.  Sources of inspiration are many and varied and include the natural world but the early origins of crafts such as paper making and print making and the ancient cultures where they began hold a particular fascination. Text has also begun to play a part in her work and is either incorporated or used as a starting point for explorations.
