Name: White, Don
Category: Wood Turning
Short Description: Strong uncluttered forms along with an awareness and respect for the integrity of the timber are paramount to Don’s work.
Description: Over a 30 year period Don’s woodturning has evolved from a mixture of small gift items, domestic wood-ware, mainly salad bowls and platters, and architectural work. Strong uncluttered forms along with an awareness and respect for the integrity of the timber are paramount. However, Don feels that the less exciting timbers, using methods and ideas that he has tried over many years, can sometimes be enhanced by the sympathetic use of colour, texturing and carving. Woodturning courses – Don has taught many people to turn over the years, mainly on an ad-hoc basis, usually trying to slot them in around his production work. However, in an effort to pass on some of his skills, he is now much more organised and is able to offer a limited number of courses, mainly aimed at Beginners/ Improvers, but can be structured to individual requirements at a higher level.
