BURSARY: The David Canter Memorial Fund (Registered Charity No. 800221)
This fund offers awards to give financial assistance to those working in the crafts. The fund is open to those who have finished their formal training and are working full-time or part-time but need money for specific projects, eg setting up a workshop, buying equipment, educational work or for research and travel. Awards are made every other year, each time focusing on specific craft disciplines. For 2012 this will be CERAMICS and the submission deadline is 21 September 2012.

Artsview - short video offer for South West craftspeople (May 2012)
We are an Exeter based filmmaking company and we aim to support independent craftspeople by giving you an online promotional platform from where to shine, allowing you to do what you do best and practise your craft whilst we help you to grow your fan base.
What do you get from Artsview?
You get a HD quality video c. 5 mins - showcasing you and your craft, perhaps sharing your skills or a behind the scenes view of your studio or making. This can be linked to from a website to help promote and sell your work. You will become part of our Facebook and twitter campaigns, as well as featuring in the Artsview newsletter.
We will also provide you with your own unique QR code (a small black and white pixelated square that carries links to web pages) for you to attach to promotion material, brochures, flyers and if you want, even t-shirts.

Craft makers needed to run workshops
The 'Crafty Hen' is looking for more people to join it's database of makers to run crafting hen parties across the UK. We are looking for professional crafts people who are experienced in running workshops aimed at adults. This opportunity will most suit those working with jewellery and textiles due to the nature of the workshops offered, although we will consider other craft fields. Most workshops tend to take place on a Saturday afternoon and will be planned well in advance. You must generally have availability then, to apply. Art and Sport - call for creative workshop tutors at Cockington Craft Centre Torbay
To celebrate the Olympic year and our ongoing visual arts and crafts summer programme Creative Torbay are seeking craftspeople to run master class adult and family workshops throughout the summer (July/Aug) to encourage a wider audience to take part in creative activities.
The workshops will be run at Cockington Court Craft centre at the heart of Torbay and will be part of a larger programme which will also include sporting activities.
We are looking for craftspeople to submit workshop ideas that will encourage new people to participate with the aim to build confidence in learning new skills and create long term interest in their newly acquired skill. We are ideally looking for 24 artists to facilitate 20 workshops over 30 days which will be run as free half day sessions in the brand new resource room at Cockington Court. Selected artists will be paid £250 per day (£125 half day) plus a materials budget.

Grants: Idlewild Trust (UK)
The Idlewild Trust has announced that the next closing date for applications to its grant making programme is the 21st September 2012. The Idlewild Trust is a grant making trust that supports registered charities concerned with the encouragement of the performing and fine arts and crafts, the advancement of education within the arts and the preservation for the benefit of the public of lands, buildings and other objects of beauty or historic interest in the United Kingdom. During the last financial year to 31 December, 2010, the Trust received 373 applications and awarded 65 grants totalling £129,305.

Community Fund
Devon County Council has announced a new £2.4 Community Fund which will enable
councillors to champion their local communities and provide start-up money for projects across
the county. The fund will be controlled by individual councillors who will each have £25,000 for
12 building projects and £15,000 to support revenue costs. Councillors in neighbouring areas will
be able to combine their money for larger-scale projects. If you want to seek support from this
fund, approach your CountyCouncillor directly with a case for the project including (brief)
evidence of strategic and local need, outline costings, key project benefits, and how it could
meet objectives of community/voluntary provision of local services.
