Support the Devon Guild of Craftsmen
Registered Charity no. 296568
2017: Support us - shop at Co-op!
The Guild's FREEHAND Charity organises craft projects in schoods, colleges and wider community. It also holds popular family drop-in workshops and gallery activities such as Spoon Puppet-making and Hey Clay! The activities are free, run by professional craftspeople and give everyone the chance to get in touch with their inner maker.
The Co-op stores in Bovey have chosen us as a 'local Community Fund' charity - so they can help us run more regular activities for all ages and keep these workshops going, free of charge and available for everyone.
All you need to do ... is shop!
Every time Co-op members shop (at Riverside, Bovey Straits, and Trago stores) - and show their card, 1% of what they spend goes into the fund and is split between 3 local charities
Or choose us online - and we'll get more than 1/3
You can also specify your 1% shopping spend portion goes to Devon Guild directly by signing into your Co-op membership and choosing the Devon Guild of Craftsmen as the charity you wish to support. Choose us here: http://coop.uk/2rUl5hl
Now is a better time than ever to do so, as this year all donations and sponsorship for our charitable activity will be matched £ for £ by Arts Council England!
Co-op members have already earned over £4 million for over 4000 local causes: https://www.coop.co.uk/membershipo/local-community-fund

How can your donations help?
Our craft education charity: Freehand
Freehand is the educational charity we run which helps us to place artists in schools. The makers will usually run one, or a series of workshops where children learn about a particular craft and more generally, the process of designing and making. Workshops encourage imagination and ideas in eveyone and can help people experience the life-changing power of creating through making. Your support helps us continue providing these enriching learning experiences for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Our building: Raise the Roof
The Guild urgently needs funds to repair the old roof of Riverside Mill as further deterioration will damage our public facilities and threaten access to the craft centre and gallery. We are running regular charity events to aid the appeal. Becoming a Friend of the Guild is a way of contributing to our charitable aims. Read more about our Friendship scheme
