Why we need your support:

The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is a registered charity (296568).

Our mission is to champion the place and importance of craft and making.

The generosity of our community of supporters helps us to achieve this aim.

We achieve this by promoting the enjoyment and appreciation of contemporary craft and by nurturing creative excellence - in our region, throughout the UK and internationally. Learning and participation are at our core. Through our workshops, our outreach and our education programme, people of all ages can have a go at making. We are committed to the importance of craft for the benefit of all. We celebrate the value of the process of craft making and of unique, hand-made objects - each one with its own story to tell.

In 2016 we welcomed 120,000 visitors through our doors. Over 11,000 visitors observed craft demonstrations, met artists and makers and/or took part in a making activity in the gallery. Our outreach activities have continued to flourish with over 30 projects in 2016/17, run by professional makers, ranging from a stonemasonry weekend for young adults to a willow sculpture project for teenage girls in care.

All income from our shop and café goes back into the running of the Riverside Mill building, providing our free exhibition programme, supporting our members and providing our free education and outreach programmes.

Every year we need to raise a further £200,000 on top of sales to continue operating as we currently do, and more than this if we want to pursue further ambitions.
