Education at The Devon Guild of Craftsmen
The Devon Guild is an educational charity which seeks to inform and inspire all ages with an exciting programme of talks, workshops, exhibitions and residencies.
Big Hand, Little Hand is The Devon Guild’s residency scheme which places makers and artists in South West schools and colleges. These hands-on workshop residencies use practicing makers to help children of all ages have fun while learning about craft and design.
Our exhibitions and events at the Riverside Mill cover the full spectrum of contemporary making from the traditional to the cutting edge, with learning at the core of the programme promoting an understanding of contemporary craft. Most exhibitions have associated support and interpretative materials.
We are delighted to accommodate visiting groups including schools and colleges to our exhibitions at no charge…please advise us if you are visiting and we can supply support material for the exhibition. Groups are also very welcome to talks and workshops (there is a small fee for many of these), which are often of great value to students and emerging makers as they look at career paths plus creative and professional development issues.
