How to support us:

Can you give us a hand with Freehand?

Please support our Freehand outreach programme - and help everyone experience the joy of making.

Every year, Devon Guild of Craftsmen gives young people, school children and those who may struggle to access arts activities, the chance to learn real craft skills and be taught by inspiring professional crafts people. View Press Release.

Help us continue our work in 2018 ...

... and let's run more Freehand events and workshops than ever before!

  • Over 2000 Young People and Community Groups benefitted from Freehand in 2016, we ran 29 artist-in-residence workshops in local schools, care homes, refugee centres and special needs groups.
  • Each residency costs an average of £600, so even a small donation can help towards providing one.
  • All donations made will be matched £ for £ by Arts Council England, meaning your contribution will double in value to us.

The secret of woodcarving is patience because if you rush it, it could all go wrong… I thought the tools were hard to use but I learnt how to use them well after practice…It helped me realise that mistakes don’t matter and we can learn from them
