John Makepeace: Enriching the Language of FurnitureJohn Makepeace, Zebras cabinets

'John Makepeace Enriching the Language of Furniture', is a major retrospective of this eminent designer, maker and educator. The exhibition will focus on Makepeace’s contribution to contemporary craft and will offer enrichment and learning opportunities to a range of visitors. 

Through film, an exhibition catalogue, reference and research material, along with hand-on activities and further study projects, this exhibition will enhance skills, encourage creative thinking and gain a better understanding of furniture and making.

A major survey of artists in the UK working with glass on metal

Playing with Fire
aims to be the biggest presentation of enamel art to have taken place in the UK. The Devon Guild of Craftsmen along with the University of the West of England and the British Society of Enamellers present this major survey of contemporary UK enamelling - an exhibition that will tour across the UK in 2009/10. Central to the concept of 'Playing with Fire' is that of 'play' where each artist will extend traditional methods to make new forms. Major prizes have been given to the most innovative work.

Artists include: Kathryn Adamson, Stephen Bottomley, Helen Carnac, Beate Gegenwart, Grace Girvan, Rachel Gogerley, John Grayson, Joan Mackarell, Jilly Morris, Zsuzsi Morrison, Liana Pattihis, Kimberley Scott, Ed Silverton, Jessica Turrell, Tamar de vries Winter.
