'Quilt History' (notes); 'Quilt Art' - intro. by Janet Haigh
See how current makers are reworking past traditions, especially in the way other media and materials are integrated into quilt making. Explore how contemporary makers are questioning traditional ways of working with textiles - and how they may cross the boundaries of function and art-form. This exhibition features exhibitors from the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and USA. FREE. Open daily 10am-5.30pm
Project ideas: studying customs, local history/records, artefacts and stories, textile art, mixed-media approaches. Plus, 'patch it yourself' - add to our DIY quilt in the gallery.

Visits:
We are happy to arrange group visits (please pre-book) and can offer an introductory guide to the exhibition. Teachers/groups/families can download the notes to inform their experience and inspire further projects after visiting.
