The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is the South West's largest contemporary craft centre with work selected from over 240 designer/makers, many with national and international reputations. Riverside Mill, the Guild's showcase, features frequently changing exhibitions, constant introduction of new work in the refurbished Craft Shop, as well as the newly refurbished cafe,The Terrace, with rooftop seating. A Lift now gives access to the first floor. You can now shop direct from the On-line Craft Shop with a carefully selected range of craftwork by Members of the Guild, from furniture to ceramics, jewellery and much more. The Guild is a registered charity with educational aims to promote public appreciation and awareness of crafts and to maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship. In addition to exhibitions and talks/workshops at Riverside Mill and touring exhibitions, it undertakes a large number of artists residencies in schools/colleges throughout the area reaching over 3000 children annually. The recent £1 million refurbishment of the Riverside Mill has created the largest contemporary crafts venue in the South West with improved access and facilities for all. The refurbished building includes the new Jubilee Gallery, a larger Craft Shop, moving and extending The Terrace cafe upstairs with the addition of a roof terrace, construction of a lift and improved physical and information/interpretation access.
