Saturday 28 July: Isabella Whitworth -  open air indigo dyeing

10am – 12.30pm & 1.30 – 4pm. Free

Dyeing with natural indigo in the Devon Guild courtyard. Isabella will be hand-dyeing her own work, and describing the indigo process. She’ll have fabrics and paper you can help to dye and take home with you!

Free, drop in - no need to book. But donations for materials appreciated.


Saturday 9 June: Fran Benatt -  ceramic decoration techniques

10am – 12.30pm & 1.30 – 4pm. FREE

Fran will be here showing us her speical techniques in ceramic decoration. ''My pots, which are fired to stoneware temperature ,are decorated with wax resist and sgraffito applied over washes of glazes and oxides. The abstract patterns are inspired by nature.''

Saturday 19 May: John Hagger - traditional leather belt making

10am – 12.30 pm& 1.30 – 4pm. FREE

Watch John Hagger apply a range of patterns to leather that will be made into belts using a hand operated rolling press. Come and have a go at pressi ng your choice of pattern and then using rivets to create your own belt; a customised version can be purchased  for £25.

Free - no need to book for the demo - but please purchase if you decide to customise your belt ...


Saturday 21 April: Lucy Gibson - enamelling techniques

Time: 10am -1pm. FREE

Lucy will bring in test pieces of silver, acid etched pieces of silver, engraving tools, enamels and do demonstrations of how the silver is prepared for enamelling and the laying of enamels and firing process.

Ceramicist Vicky Whelpton is here to show us how she decorates her beautiful pots and tableware. You can chat to her about her making, processes and the techniques she uses in her craft.
