Maker's Details - Parkinson, Jacqui

Jacqui paints and then stitches small and large scale panels, pictures and sculptures for private and public spaces.

Category: Textiles

With a background in performance art Jacqui brings the idea of the spectacular into her textile work with a variety of techniques: graphic lines, bright colours and three dimensional elements.  She enjoys working with the concept of the ‘concealed’ and the ‘revealed’ often layering fabrics and then cutting into them exposing negative spaces.  She explores the challenge of working on a large scale while retaining a fascination for areas of intricacy.  Her large scale work can be seen - as a series of touring exhibitions - in many cathedrals, churches and care homes around England. As a teacher and artist she enjoys leading workshops with all ages, and working on creative commissions with individuals or groups of people.
