Maker's Details - Pascoe, David

David makes kiln-formed glass using bright, highly contrasting colours and texture to give the glass an unusual and unexpected feel.

Category: Glass
I find glass to be a fascinating material. It allows you to manipulate it in so many ways. I enjoy the combination of creative and technical disciplines that kiln-formed glass can offer me.

David first encountered kiln-formed glasswork while in Australia in 1999, and knew immediately that he wanted to work in that medium. He was a lobster fisherman for five years before he decided to work with glass and he believes this has influenced his work a great deal. He describes his work as 'heavily influenced by the natural world, particularly the ocean'. David uses bright, highly contrasting colours in his work and also texture to give glass an unusual and unexpected feel.
