Maker's Details - Richard Buckingham

Furniture and decorative mirrors using veneers and incorporating slate, copper and rusted steel.

Category: Furniture
Working from his home workshop in Coverack on the Lizard Peninsula, Richard produces furniture and decorative mirrors for galleries and private clients. He sources, cuts and seasons his own timber wherever possible and has stocks of elm, ash, laburnum, yew, willow, cherry, apple and even rhododendron which has proved to be an amazing material.
He makes his own band sawn veneers to enable book-matching and pattern matching techniques.  Incorporating slate, copper and rusted steel in many of his designs, Richard experiments with colour and texture whilst reflecting elements of the Cornish landscape and heritage.
It is his aim to produce unique furniture that is both practical and beautiful while maintaining a philosophy that furniture should only become precious through its use.
