Arts Award

MAKE Southwest is proud to be a supporter of Arts Award, a range of qualifications designed to help children and young people take part in the arts.

Arts Award is open to anyone up to the age of 25. Taking part encourages children and young people to develop creative and critical skills, explore the arts, share their achievements and gain a recognised qualification.

We currently have provision to support both Discover and Bronze level arts award at MAKE Southwest.

Discover

Arts Award Discover is the introductory award, designed for ages 5 and above, but is open to children and young people aged 25 and under.

To achieve Arts Award Discover, children and young people collect evidence in an individual arts log which records their experiences of:

  • participating in arts activities

  • researching artists and their work

  • sharing their arts discoveries

If you would like to help start a child on the Arts Award journey, these log books designed for children aged 5 – 9, are an ideal place to begin. The book will guide your child through the necessary steps needed to obtain the award. There is no deadline for completion and we can process the award for you.

If you would like a log book, please email our Learning Officer, Ian Wilkins.

Bronze

Bronze Arts Award is a Level 1 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is open to young people aged 11 to 25.

To achieve a Bronze Arts Award, young people collect evidence in an individual arts log or portfolio of their experiences of:

  • developing their interests, knowledge and skills through actively participating in any art form

  • experience of at least one arts event/experience as an audience member and their review of that event/experience

  • researching the career and work of an artist or craftsperson that inspires them

  • experience of passing on an arts skill

The Bronze Arts Award is run as part of our Saturday Craft Club for young makers aged between 14 – 16 years old.
