Donate to MAKE Southwest

MAKE Southwest (formerly Devon Guild of Craftsmen) is not only an acclaimed exhibition space for contemporary craft and design, but a leading charity for craft education too!

We are also a Membership organisation supporting Southwest makers and we run a education programme too. Our charitable work aims to create as many opportunities as possible for people to enjoy and learn about contemporary crafts, including projects in schools, hospitals, community groups and our gallery spaces.

Whether you visit our exhibitions at Riverside Mill or one of our shows touring the country, or experience an education project with Freehand we are dedicated to one mission: inspiring creative excellence through contemporary craft.

We rely on donations to help us deliver opportunities to see, make, and learn about craft.

By donating today you’ll be helping us to:

  • Give away 150 craft kits to people in need

  • Deliver 25 free workshops for young people

  • Arrange monthly free wellbeing sessions

  • Put 5 craft tutors in schools and community groups

  • Provide exhibition and mentoring opportunities to 40 graduate and emerging makers across the Southwest

  • Support 140 Southwest makers in reducing their environmental impact

  • Enable free entry to 15 exhibitions with drop-in educational activities

…every year!

Give a gift in your will

Give when you shop at The Coop

We work with school children, young carers, elderly people, disabled people and refugees, empowering and inspiring them through the process of learning real craft skills.

How your donations will help:

£5 will pay for a craft kit for 1 child

£20 will give 4 young people the chance to enjoy a day's craft workshop in our gallery

£100 pays to put a craft tutor in a school for 1 day as part of our Freehand initiative

Legacy giving has a lasting impact on the work we do here at MAKE Southwest and supports our charitable aims.

You can leave a gift in your will in different ways, so it is important to take professional advice from a solicitor to ensure that your intentions are expressed in the correct legal terms.

If you would like to talk about leaving a gift to MAKE Southwest, please contact the CEO, Laura Wasley by email on: laura@makesouthwest.org.uk.

When you buy selected products and services using your Co-op membership card, the Co-op Local Community Fund donates 2p for every £1 you spend to like-minded organisations and local causes.

So, if you live locally to Bovey Tracey, and you would like to support craft education in your community every time you shop at the co-op, please select us as your cause!

Choosing us as a cause helps us deliver on our charitable aims, including keeping our exhibitions free, delivering free craft courses for young makers and low-cost half-term activities for families, GMI events, and professional development for the next generation of craft makers in the South West.
