Anita Reynolds | Printmaking | Devon

Landscape printmaker working on Dartmoor and the South West Coast.

Anita translates her dynamic onsite sketches into prints either on location in her camper van, that houses a small press, or back in her studio in Totnes. She predominantly makes monotypes, drypoints and collagraphs as well as hybrid works that combine these techniques.

“When producing my work I divide my time between working on site, a mix of sketching, painting and printmaking; and developing ideas back in my studio. The outside work has the excitement and vigorous marks that are a result of an emotional response to place. Rapidly changing light and weather conditions require me to work quickly, forcing me to focus on the essential details. Whereas the studio is where memory, compositional processes and techniques kick in, it is also a great place to have a really good think.”

In 2018 Anita had a solo exhibition in the Jubilee Gallery at MAKE Southwest (then called Devon Guild of Craftsmen), “A Year on Dartmoor”. She is currently working on a new body of work looking at how the Dartmoor Quarries have rewilded.
